Scripture treats the hand—especially the right hand—as the personal extension of one’s strength, authority, and blessing. In Genesis 48 Jacob crosses his hands to place the greater blessing on the younger grandson, Ephraim, showing that God’s favor is sovereign, not bound by custom. Throughout the Bible the laying on of hands conveys worship, consecration, imparted authority, and spiritual empowerment—ultimately fulfilled in Christ’s exaltation at the Father’s right hand and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
