Hebrews 11 celebrates the triumphs of ordinary believers who, persuaded by God, turned from self-reliance to confident trust. Drawing on this “hall of faith,” the lesson explains how repentance (turning from) and faith (turning to) form two inseparable sides of our justification, both graciously given by the Spirit. Genuine faith is firm persuasion rooted in God’s character and Word—very different from presumption or assumption that springs from human imagination.
